Frequently Asked Questions

  • That is a great question! The most important factor in positive outcomes for therapy is a strong working alliance between a client and their therapist. This is why it is helpful to have the 15-minute consultation together to help you determine if you would like to work together. Going forward, we will check in about how therapy is going for you and help determine how to make helpful changes while working together- and help you find an alternate therapist in the event that you do not feel that I am the right fit for you.

  • Everything and anything that is discussed in session is strictly privileged information. The only exceptions is if anyone, including you or someone else is in imminent physical danger.

  • Think of therapy like you would repairing a home. Some repairs are similar to putting on a new coat of paint, while others involve reconstructing the foundation to make the home safer. Sometimes therapy is brief and used for getting through a particularly difficult time in your life. Other times we require doing deeper work in order to address core beliefs and ways we experience the world that may need to be updated to improve our quality of life, which can be longer-term.

During therapy, we will work together to determine what a positive outcome looks like and build a roadmap together on how to get there.

  • Think of the first 1-2 sessions as an orientation. We will start with what is bringing you to therapy and explore how you are experiencing your life, the challenges you are facing, and sharing your background. I will also ask lots of clarifying questions to better understand your circumstances and specify some goals for therapy. You will also have the opportunity to ask me any questions and address any concerns you may have.

  • Prior to each session, you will receive a link to a HIPAA-Compliant video platform where we will meet. Like an in-person session, therapy will be best in from a secure, private location where you will be able to have the privacy you need to speak and explore openly.
